Our Story

  • Urban Life Church began its first public meeting on Sunday the 5th of February 1995.The name of the church at the time was Menai City Church.
  • Martin and Julie Vine were the founding Pastors and are still in leadership today.
  • Martin had a vision in 1994 where God spoke to him and said that he was to plant a seed that would grow with the community. God said that his blessing and favor would be upon it and all those that watched it would know that God’s blessing was upon it .
  • After praying about this Martin and Julie felt that the seed was a church.
  • In 2006 the church moved from the rented premises of Menai High School to the current ministry center that was purchased by the generosity of its members. At the same time the church changed its name to Urban Life Church.
  • Since 2006 Urban Life Church has continued to grow stronger and its ministries cover Youth, Children, Urban Foodcare, Adults and Young Adults.
  • The seed has become a healthy tree within the community of Menai.

Urban Life is part of the Australian Christian Churches (ACC). This is a network of Pentecostal Churches that are connected relationally through regions. For more information on the ACC you can go to the website www.acc.org.au

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy. We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the 'new birth' we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.

We believe that water baptism is an act of faith and obedience as a follower of Jesus.

We believe that Holy Spirit baptism can occur at or after conversion. The gifts of the Spirit are distributed by the Holy Spirit as He empowers each believer to witness with great affect.

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfill our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.

We believe that God wants to restore wholeness to our lives and transform us so that we can live blessed lives in order to be a blessing to others.

We believe that God desires everyone to experience His eternal blessing, however, every individual needs to make their own choice about accepting Jesus Christ and following Him in order to be assured about their destiny in heaven and avoid what Jesus calls ell.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
